Gulgong Medical Centre is situated in Gulgong is a 19th-century gold rush town in the Central Tablelands and the wider Central West regions of the Australian state of New South Wales. The town is situated within the Mid-Western Regional Council local government area. It is located about 300 km (190 mi) north west of Sydney, and about 30 km north of Mudgee along the Castlereagh Highway. At the 2016 Census, Gulgong had a population of 2,521.
Established in 1983 by Dr Glenys Caterson, Dr Caterson was then joined by Dr Williams in 1997. Dr Caterson Retired from service after 25 year and after Dr Williams moved to Molong shortly after. The practice continued and was managed by the Newcastle based Rural and Remote Medical Services. Dr Emad Gannoum was the first doctor to practice under the new management he remained for 12 months and during this time was joined by Dr Alsenied and Dr Patrick Mosse. Where Dr Mosse stayed until 2012 and during this time Dr Michael Nicholson assisted in the practice providing a part time GP service and locum relief for the full time GPs.
In April 2012 after the departure of Dr Mosse, Dr Alsenied became the only full time GP in Gulgong. Dr Alsenied not only serviced the surgery but also the local Health One Service which was developed to what is today the Multipurpose Health Service in Gulgong. From 2014 Dr Alseneid was the sole proprietor of Gulgong Medical Centre. Dr Eman Al Hafed joined Dr Hussain as GP registrar in 2016 along with Dr Shaghi who has since returned to Sydney to practice.
In June 2018 Dr Nebras Yahya joined the Gulgong Medical Centre team of which he has become the Practice Principle. In addition to these two full time GP’s the medical Centre currently employs 3 permanent part time reception staff, 3 permanent part time nursing staff a practice manager and 2 Doctors.
